Bunka Shishu

Learning the art of Bunka Shishu (Japanese embroidery) in 1982, Janice immediately began selling her work and in a few months was participating in art shows. After creating over two hundred original pictures and showing her exquisite work widely in California and Canada, she as received many awards and accolades. Now instructing through SB Adult Education, Janice has developed many teaching kits that demonstrate a variety of techniques that renders such subtle shading and smooth textures that the art has been called "oil painting in thread". Janice is founder of the CaliBunka movement, adding new life and originality to this vibrant art form.
