California Landscape & Seascape Oil Paintings
My paintings are all about my lifelong love of art and the beauty of the California landscape and coastal vistas. My latest paintings are large oils painted in my studio using field studies, sketches and photos as reference. . The paintings show a rare balance of realism and expression. Rich and subtle coloration and deep atmospheric perspective bring out the emotional qualities of my experience at the location. The paintings magically transcend paint and canvas and become energized events that transport the viewer to the time and place where I felt the inspiration.
Among the many awards and commissions I have received, the two 21 foot wide “landmark” paintings for the Cottage Hospital main lobby certainly stand out. After installing these iconic paintings 20 feet above the floor of the lobby.
