Poignant
luminescence and an appealing ethereal glow characterize the
Hopperesque streetscapes, industrial narratives and eloquent
interiors created by studio-painter Warner Nienow. Wisconsin-born
and educated for software engineering, Warner feels privileged
to have been privately trained in classical oil painting techniques
in Santa Barbara (where he has now lived and painted almost
45 years) - by revered master still life painter Claude Buck.
In the year 2000, Warner and his artist wife Judy established
2 Nienows Studio where they paint full time while welcoming
collectors and other art-curious visitors. Warner's work is
based on personal photographs and extremely precise and meticulous
underdrawings using pencil and ink. The oils are glazed in careful
layers over several days.
Warner
won the oil painting achievement award from S.B. County Arts
Fund in 2004. He has been represented by LACMA's Art Sales and
Rental Gallery since 2005. While most solo shows have been in
Santa Barbara, Warner has also exhibited and sold paintings
in New York City and in France; and in 2009/2010 had a 5-month
invitational solo show ("Dive Crews") at the Santa
Barbara Maritime Museum. 2010 also saw his invitational solo
show "Elegant Inspirations" at the Architectural Foundation
of Santa Barbara.
