Pamela was born in Seattle, Washington. As a young child a family friend came to Pamela in her back yard and asked why she sat staring at a tree while the other children were out front playing. "One day I might want to draw this tree" she said, and so it began. She moved with her family to live in Kingston, Jamaica and attended Queen's Girl's School. She studied art with Mr. Barrington Watson, who later founded the Jamaica College of Art. She won many awards and by the age of 14 her work was being shown in two island galleries. She has since studied with Bay Area artist Raymond Saunders, Norwegian artist Jan Saether and Santa Barbara sculpture Bela Bacsi among others.
Pamela is married and lives in Santa Barbara and has two grown children, Her son, Loren and his wife, Krista live nearby. Her daughter Allyson Toscher recently returned after living for a time in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The previous owners of her home were also artists. Most days you can find her working in her lovely studio. Her working motto is "face your fears with intellegence."
