Ceramic and Bronze Sculpture
Initially, at Baltimore Clayworks, I created distinctive ceramics vessels that would sell before they were even finished. For 40 years I have shown and sold in galleries throughout the United States, as well as in Europe. Several years ago, an Italian ceramic factory dating from the 16th century invited me to design contemporary work to expand their collection.
Sculpture has always intrigued me, so a few years ago I went back to class and studied with Tip Toland, Philippe Faraut, Christina West, Dirk Staschke, Debra Fritts, Christine Córdova, Lisa Clague, and Akio Takamori, masters that specialize in the human figure. Now, using ceramics and bronze as my mediums, I sculpt from imagination and from exposure to different cultures through my world travels. Currently, inspired by a collection of 1940 home movies, I am sculpting some of my family, who are no longer alive. We all have this desire to connect with our forebears.
