I find inspiration for my art from vintage advertising on old, weathered signs, discarded toys from years gone by, rusty, antiquated tools or the typographical forms and textures left behind on letterpress handbills or heritage consumer packaging. These are just a few of the many things that grab my attention and appreciation, and I ultimately incorporate into my artwork. I attempt to make my pieces take on a life of their own through story-telling, humor and the often bizarre and unexpected, layering vintage iconography, images and relics that are overlooked in today’s fast paced, hi-tech world. Often my art has a socially responsible message that has the viewer think twice about a pressing issue. Mostly, I bring a playfulness and absurdity to my work that I ultimately hope brings curiosity and a smile to the observer.
