My recent artworks
are the product of two types of layering processes. I start with
a well-constructed paper collage and push it beyond the limitations
of paper fragments through photographic manipulation and layering.
Though my work is abstract, I am interested in creating the illusion
of space and movement. Harmonious color, light and shadow, and
balance of both masculine and feminine elements, sharpness and
softness, curves and angles are present in my work in an attempt
to grasp an idealized and cooperative totality.
My work has been shown locally, nationally, and internationally
and appears in several publications, including the Honorable Mention
section of the 2005 California edition of Kennedy Publishing's
Best of Artists Juried Book series, as well as in the 2005 Best
of Artists National. I have also been invited to appear in the
upcoming Best of Worldwide Genre book. I have received several
awards, including the Santa Barbara Individual Artist Award for
Mixed Media, Collage, and Assemblage in 2004. I am an award winner
in the National Collage Society's 23rd Annual Juried Exhibit and
have been a juried member of the National Association of Women
Artists.
